I've written a handful of free guides for homeowners. As of today, every one of them is also a typeset PDF you can print, save or send to someone. No sign-up and no email gate. Click it and it opens.
The PDFs are built from the same text as the guide pages, so they say the same thing. Some of this you just want on paper: the photo sheet on the fridge, the quote checklist on the kitchen table when a roofer comes by, the care card in the drawer with your house papers.
Here's what each one is for.
1. Storm Damage and Your Insurance Claim (KY & OH).
For: right after hail or high wind in Kentucky or Ohio. It covers what to do first, how a claim and the adjuster visit work, ACV vs. RCV, your rights when you sign, and the red flags to watch for after a storm. You file the claim and it stays yours. This guide helps you know what's coming.
2. Pre-Storm Photo Baseline.
For: before storm season. It's one page. Spend twenty minutes with your phone, fill in the date boxes, and you can show what changed after a storm. Stay on the ground for all of it.
3. How to Compare Roofing Quotes.
For: when you have two or three quotes and they don't line up. It helps you compare the same roof, not just the bottom line: what every quote should include, warranties in plain words, the questions to ask every roofer, and what a written inspection report includes. Bring it to every estimate, mine included.
4. Home Care and Warranty Card.
For: after the job. It's written for my customers, but anyone can use the checklist. Ten minutes a season for your roof, gutters and siding, what to look at after a storm, and what your No Big Deal written labor warranty covers, in plain English.
5. Paying for a Roof, Explained.
For: before you decide how to pay. Cash, financing or insurance: how each one works, what a soft credit check really means, and the questions to ask before you sign for a loan. There are no rates or payment numbers in it. Those come from the lender, in writing.
6. Siding and Gutter Buyer's Guide.
For: when the walls or the gutters are next. Vinyl, fiber cement and engineered wood siding, seamless gutters and guards, what a good quote includes and what the warranty years mean.
