Roof Cleaning &
Soft Wash Done Right.

Black streaks, moss, algae — they're not cosmetic problems. They're actively shortening the life of your roof. Joe removes them the right way: low-pressure soft wash that kills the organism at the root.

Those Black Streaks Aren't Dirt.
They're Eating Your Shingles.

The dark staining you see on roofs across Greater Cincinnati is Gloeocapsa magma — a type of algae that feeds on the limestone in your shingles. Left alone, it breaks down the granule layer, reduces reflectivity, and shortens your roof's lifespan by years.

Moss and lichen are even worse. They retain moisture against the shingle surface, work their roots into the mat, and cause the kind of damage that voids warranties and triggers premature replacement.

Joe uses a low-pressure soft wash system — not a pressure washer. High-pressure washing destroys granules and can void manufacturer warranties. Soft wash uses a biodegradable treatment solution applied at low pressure that kills the organism at the root and prevents regrowth for years.

  • Low-pressure soft wash — safe for all shingle types
  • Algae, moss, and lichen treatment and removal
  • Black streak elimination (Gloeocapsa magma)
  • Gutter flush included
  • Biodegradable, plant-safe solution
  • Pre and post inspection — catch any hidden damage while we're up there

Soft Wash vs. Pressure Wash

✓ SOFT WASH (What We Do)
Low pressure · Kills organism at root · Prevents regrowth · Won't void warranty · Safe for gutters and landscaping
✗ PRESSURE WASH (What We Don't)
Strips granules · Only removes surface staining · Damage returns in months · Can void GAF warranty
Inspected Before & After
We document condition before cleaning and check for hidden damage while we're up there

This Is What's Growing
On Your Roof.

Aerial drone view of an asphalt shingle roof: the upper north-facing plane is covered in dark algae streaks running down the slope while the plane on the other side of the ridge is still clean
From the drone: algae streaking the shaded north plane while the far side of the same ridge stays clean. That asymmetry is the tell — it's growth, not dirt.
Close-up of gray 3-tab shingles with dark moss clumps growing in the keyways and lifting the shingle butt edges
At arm's reach: moss wedged into the keyways, physically lifting the shingle edges — holding moisture against the mat every day it stays.
Roof plane during a soft wash treatment: one side still black with years of algae growth and treatment foam running down it, the other side already restored to the shingles' original tan blend color
And here's the wash actually working — one frame, mid-treatment, from one of my jobs. The dark half is years of algae; the light half is the same roof minutes later, back to the color the homeowner paid for. No pressure washer touched it — the treatment does the work and the rain finishes the rinse.

Every shot above is from my own inspections and jobs around Greater Cincinnati. This is exactly the condition soft wash treats — killed at the root, rinsed by the rain, without a pressure washer stripping your granules.

Roof Cleaning Questions.

How often should a roof be cleaned?

In Greater Cincinnati's humid climate, most roofs benefit from cleaning every 3-5 years. North-facing slopes and roofs shaded by trees accumulate algae and moss faster and may need more frequent treatment.

Will soft wash damage my gutters or plants?

No. We use a biodegradable solution and rinse landscaping before and after application. The process is designed to be safe for everything around the house.

How long until I see results?

Black streaks from algae disappear within a few days as the dead organism rinses away with rain. Moss may take a few weeks to fully release from the surface.

Can you combine cleaning with an inspection?

Yes — and we recommend it. While Joe is up there cleaning, he does a full condition check. If there's any storm damage hiding under the staining, you'll know about it.
