Home Care and Warranty Card
A ten-minute-a-season checklist for your roof, gutters and siding, plus what your No Big Deal warranty covers, in plain English.
Four seasons, one short list
A roof rarely fails all at once. It wears at the edges: a lifted shingle, a clogged downspout, a gap where siding meets trim. Ten minutes a season catches most of it early, while it's still a small fix.
Spring
- Look up from the yard for missing, lifted or creased shingles after winter wind.
- Watch a hard rain: water should leave the downspouts, not spill over the front of the gutters.
- Check the attic on a sunny day for daylight or water stains around chimneys, vents and pipes.
- Walk the siding for cracked, loose or warped panels, especially on the sunny side.
Summer
- Trim branches back so nothing rubs on or drops onto the roof.
- Look for dark streaks or moss on shaded slopes.
- Make sure bath and kitchen fans vent outside, not into the attic.
- Look for gaps or peeling caulk around windows and doors.
Fall
- Clean the gutters once most leaves are down, then flush each downspout.
- Point downspouts at least four feet away from the foundation.
- Look for sagging gutter runs or hangers pulling away from the fascia.
- If the roof is 15 years or older, book an inspection before winter.
Winter
- Watch the eaves for ice dams and heavy icicles: both point to heat escaping into the attic.
- Never rake snow off the roof from a ladder.
- Check the attic for frost on nail tips or damp insulation.
- Keep downspout outlets clear so meltwater can drain.
After a storm
Hail and high wind leave clues you can see from the ground. Before anything gets cleaned up, walk the house and take dated photos of what you find.
- Dents or dings on gutters, downspouts, vents and the AC unit: soft metal shows hail first.
- Shingle granules washed out at the downspouts, or pieces of shingle in the yard.
- Siding cracked, chipped or holed on the side the storm came from.
- New water stains on ceilings, or damp spots in the attic.
Then call or text me. Whether insurance covers it depends on your policy and the damage. I'll tell you honestly if it's worth a claim.
Your warranty, plainly
Two kinds of coverage protect a new roof: the manufacturer's warranty on the materials, and our written labor warranty on the work.
